When antidepressants haven't been enough
If you've tried two or more medications and still feel the floor under you, you are not out of options — you're out of that option. Both of the treatments below are for exactly this situation, and both happen here in Laurel rather than by referral somewhere else.
NeuroStar TMS
Transcranial magnetic stimulation uses focused magnetic pulses to wake up a region of the brain that's underactive in depression. No drug, no sedation, no downtime.

Spravato (esketamine)
An esketamine nasal spray for treatment-resistant depression, self-administered in our office. It works on a different pathway than standard antidepressants — which is the point.

- Usually twice weekly at first, then spaced out as you respond
- Taken alongside an oral antidepressant, not instead of one
Both treatments are given on site under monitoring, so neither can be done by video. We have a dedicated TMS and Spravato coordinator, so the insurance authorization is handled here rather than left to you — that paperwork is the part most people give up on.

A real evaluation
Your first visit is mostly listening. What's going on now, what your history looks like, how you're sleeping, what you've tried before and how it actually went — not a checklist read at you.
A plan you agreed to
Medication, therapy referral, ADHD or GeneSight testing, TMS, Spravato, or some combination. You'll hear the trade-offs of each in plain language and pick with us, not be assigned.
Adjustment, not abandonment
Follow-ups in Laurel or by video. If something isn't working, we change it — the first plan is a starting point, not a verdict.

Do I need a referral?
No. You can book directly with us — most patients schedule themselves online or by calling
(443) 713-8643. Some insurance plans require a referral for coverage, so it's worth a quick call to your
plan first if you're unsure. If you have records from a previous prescriber or therapist, bring them; they
save real time on your first visit.
What insurance do you accept?

Can I be seen by video instead of driving to Laurel?
Yes. Virtual evaluations and follow-up visits are available to patients in Maryland, Virginia
and Washington, DC. Some care has to happen in person: both NeuroStar TMS and Spravato are administered on
site under monitoring, so those appointments take place at our Laurel office.
What's the difference between TMS and Spravato?
Both are for depression that hasn't responded to antidepressants, but they work differently.
NeuroStar TMS uses focused magnetic pulses to stimulate an underactive region of the brain — no
medication, no sedation, no downtime, and you drive yourself home. Spravato is an esketamine nasal spray
you self-administer in our office; because it can affect alertness, you're monitored on site for two hours
and need a ride home. TMS runs as a course of short sessions over several weeks; Spravato is typically
dosed twice weekly at first, then tapered. Which one fits depends on your history, your schedule and your
insurance — that's what the evaluation is for.
What happens at a first psychiatric appointment?
Mostly, we listen. Your provider will ask about what you're experiencing now, your history,
your sleep, your stressors, any medications you've tried and how they went. From there you talk through
the options together — medication, a therapy referral, ADHD or GeneSight testing, or an advanced treatment
like TMS or Spravato — and you leave with a plan you actually agreed to, not one handed to you.
Do you see veterans and service members near Fort Meade?
Yes. We accept TRICARE, and we're a short drive up MD-198 from Fort Meade. We also complete
VA Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) for veterans pursuing a mental health claim. A DBQ is an
evaluation and documentation service — it's separate from ongoing treatment, and we're happy to explain
what the appointment involves before you book.
Can you test for ADHD, or do I need a diagnosis already?
You don't need a diagnosis to come in. We offer ADHD and ADD testing, including QbTech
testing, which adds an objective measure of attention and activity to the clinical interview rather than
relying on questionnaires alone. If testing supports a diagnosis, we can move straight into a treatment
plan with the same team.
Where are you, and when are you open?
We're at 9811 Mallard Dr, Suite 210, Laurel, MD 20708 — just off Route 1, minutes from I-95
and the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. Open Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturday 12:00 PM
to 4:00 PM; closed Sunday. We also have an office in Alexandria, Virginia, and we serve Washington, DC
patients by telehealth.
What should I do if I'm in crisis right now?
Don't wait for an appointment. Call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis
Lifeline, text HOME to 741741 to reach a crisis counselor, or call 911 or go to your nearest
emergency room if you're in immediate danger. Our clinic is not an emergency service and is not staffed
after hours.
